The only William Lambert who appears in the Commonwealth War Graves Commission's records was born at Musselburgh, the son of John Lambert. He served with 11th Battalion Royal Scots and died of wounds on 10 November 1915, at Festilry, Germersheim, Belgium.

In 1891 Thomas Lambert was a farm servant at Fingask, Rhynd, Perthshire, living with his wife Margaret, and children Jessie, 8, and William, 5.

In 1901 Thomas Lambert was cattleman at Blinkbonny Farm, Abdie parish, living with his wife Margaret, and children Jessie, born 1883, Falkland, outworker, William, born 1886, Auchtermuchty, outworker, and Maggie, born1895, Abdie,

In 1911 Thomas Lambert was back at Rhynd, living in three roomed Coates Cottage, next to Elcho farm, with his wife Margaret. They had been married 40 years and four of their five children were still living. He was an agricultural labourer. His granddaughter Margaret, 17, born Bo'ness, Linlithgow, a farm outworker, was also living with them.

Meanwhile William Lambert, 25, was living in single roomed Broombrae Bothy and was a ploughman. Thomas Reedie, at Broombrae Cottage was a farm servant and William McNaughton a shepherd. William Lambert lived in Broombrae Bothy, behind Broombrae Cottages, Auchtermuchty. He is remembered on the Auchtermuchty Church plaque.
